Desperation, soul surgery, and gaining true vision (Growing Deeper with Luke 18:35-43)

The Pulse Podcast is about living abundantly wholeheartedly.

It includes different kinds of content: Interviews, featured topics, or biblical studies.

This episode is the later—a more in-depth look at Luke 18:35-43, the story of Jesus healing a blind beggar.

It’s a story of a desperate man who calls out to Jesus for help and mercy. Matthew Henry says he is emblematic of the rest of us; he can teach us something about the healing and rescue that the rest of us also need.

In this line-by-line look at the text I provide context and background, and suggest three ways in which desperation can also open our eyes.

The sermon connected to this same text is called “The rope at the end of your rope.” You can access the (pre-recorded) video version, or the audio download, here.
