Angels, Jesus, and preferring pebbles to pearls (Growing Deeper with Hebrews 1:4-14)

Have you ever thought, ‘Well, maybe Jesus isn’t all he’s cracked up to be. Maybe I should consult a fortune-teller or rub that little Buddha’s belly or look up Lady Luck just to ensure I have all my bases covered.’

What are the things we do which undermine (even subconsciously) our belief in the sufficiency and supremacy of Jesus?

Are we committing spiritual adultery, or acting out of spiritual fidelity?

The Pulse Podcast is about living abundantly wholeheartedly. It includes different kinds of content: Interviews, featured topics, or biblical studies. This episode is the later—a more in-depth look at Hebrews 1:4-14. What looks like a controversy about angels is actually an ever-relevant question about the sufficiency and supremacy of Jesus in our lives.

Enjoy!

The sermon from September 19, 2021 that accompanies this same section of text on Hebrews 1:4-14 is called “Spiritual adultery or fidelity” and can be accessed here.

  1. Thanks Matthew, it’s great to have you back. This is a timely topic as many young people seem to be drifting towards this practice. I was having a conversation yesterday with someone about this and it was difficult to find the right words. Your message definitively helped. God bless!
