Cleansing the Temple with zeal, and our hearts from apathy (Growing Deeper with John 2:13-25)

So much for Jesus meek-and-mild! He’s clearly not happy as he overturns tables and drives a bunch of animals and people out of the Temple which he calls his “Father’s house.”

What do his actions teach us about “zeal” (or lukewarm faith, for that matter)? What does it mean for Christians today that Jesus’ body is the new Temple?

The Pulse Podcast is about living abundantly wholeheartedly. It includes different kinds of content: Interviews, featured topics, or biblical studies. This episode is the later—an in-depth look at John 2:12-25.

I take us through the text, provide context and background, and encourage us to consider whether our faith is about ritual or a relationship.

Enjoy!

The sermon connected to this same section of text can be found here; it is called “Ritual or Relationship.”
