Walking on water and eclipsing fear (Growing Deeper with John 6:16-24)

It’s one of Jesus’ most well-known miracles. But walking on water wasn’t a party trick to impress the crowds.

The disciples were in a storm on the sea at night. They were afraid. In Job 9:8 we learn about a God who “trampled the waves of the sea.” Jesus is that God come to us in human form. He approaches, provides peace, and delivers them to the shore.

Likewise, our lives can be full of uncertainty. And what was true for the disciples then is true for us now. The powerful presence of Jesus is greater than the powerful presence of fear.

The Pulse Podcast is about living abundantly wholeheartedly. It includes different kinds of content: Interviews, featured topics, or biblical studies. This episode is the later–an in-depth look at John 6:16-24.

I take us through the text, provide some important context and background to aid in our understanding, and then invite us to see uncertainty as an opportunity.

Enjoy!

The sermon connected to this same section of text is called “Uncertainty is an Opportunity” and can be accessed here.
