Jesus said “Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment” (John 7:24).
We know to not judge by appearances. We might struggle with it sometimes, but we know it makes sense. Never judge a book by it’s cover, right?
But the second half of his statement is a bit trickier. What does it mean to “judge with right judgment”? At a time when many people are quickly accused of being “judgmental” for having an opinion about a whole host of things, what is the difference between “being judgmental” and using “right judgment”?
This sermon from July 10, 2022 explores John 7:1-24 and seeks to answer these same questions.
The H.A.L.O. Response is a guide to using “right judgment” at a time when we all seem to be walking and talking on slippery slopes.
