The truth will set you free (from what?), and why standing on the shoulders of giants isn’t enough (Growing Deeper with John 8:31-38)

You’ve probably said it yourself. “The truth will set you free.” Jesus said it first. But free from what?

Freedom is a deeply desired hope for people across the planet and of various ages. The oppressed want it. Nations and peoples want to rule themselves. Young people want to have a greater say in their lives.

But what was Jesus talking about?

The Pulse Podcast is about living abundantly wholeheartedly. It includes different kinds of content: Interviews, featured topics, or biblical studies. This episode is the later—and in-depth look at John 8:31-38.

I take us through the text, explain the meaning of Jesus’ words and why they were so controversial, and also how putting too much stock in the legacy of those who have gone before us (“standing on the shoulders of giants”) can blind us to the importance of a powerful, personal faith.

Enjoy!
