Common questions

What is a devotional?

It’s a tool to help you grow in your devotion to God.

Why is it called “The Up Devotional”?

We often think of God as “up” (although, of course, he is everywhere). I suggested the name to my wife and she said: “Yeah, like get up in the morning and look up!” It’s about keeping your eyes fixed on God (Hebrews 12:2).

How long is each devotional?

Short. You can read each devotional is about a minute, or listen to it in about two.

What is the theology?

Biblical, thoughtful evangelicalism. I am from a Reformed Protestant background and take an ecumenical approach.

How can I access past devotionals?

You can visit the online homebase: TheUpDevo.com. It has past editions back to 2016.

Is it on social media?

Yes. Right now it’s on Instagram, Facebook, X, Bluesky and Threads. It is most likely coming to TikTok and Snapchat.
