Psalm 1 is sometimes called the “gateway to the psalms.” It stands with arms outstretched over the following 149 psalms.
It is a psalm of wisdom which outlines the path of righteousness verses the path of wickedness. One is to be pursued (even if we are deeply flawed), and the other is to be avoided. As James Mays says, “Life is at stake.”
