Darkness is my closest friend (Growing Deeper with Psalm 88)

Psalm 88 is a desperate cry for help in the midst of disappointment and despair.

Other psalms say similar things, but they end on a high note. Not so with Psalm 88. The final line is “darkness is my closest friend.” When darkness is your closest friend, you are clearly going through something horrible.

Who is the author, Heman? What do we know about him? Can his experience shed any light on the meaning of the psalm and how it might help us when we too cry out to God wondering why he doesn’t seem to be doing anything, or even if he cares?

The Pulse Podcast is about living abundantly wholeheartedly. It includes different kinds of content: Interviews, featured topics, or biblical studies. This episode is the later—and in-depth look at Psalm 88.

Enjoy!
