Understanding the Lord’s Supper

The Lord’s Supper (also called Communion or the Eucharist) is something Jesus gave to his church on the night he was betrayed. “Do this in remembrance of me.” It is a Sacrament.

But what does the word “sacrament” even mean? Does something special happen when we eat the break and drink the wine (or juice)? How does God use this to bless or nourish his people, and does something happen that can’t happen in any other way?

In Part 1 of this episode I unpack 1 Corinthians 11:17-34 where Paul provides some instructions about the Lord’s Supper to the confused Corinthians. In Part 2 I offer seven meanings of the Lord’s Supper, some of which can be neglected today.
