The second coming of Jesus. It has fascinated people since the earliest days. Just this week #JesusIsComingSoon was trending on social media.
This sermon is a part of “The Beginning is Nigh” series and explores 1 Thessalonians 4:13-5:11, that much-quoted text about Jesus coming like a “thief in the night” and believers meeting him in the air.
Some people avoid the topic. Some infatuate about it. Others throw up their hands. But when we see it’s relevance to the bigger picture of what God is doing in human history, not only is it a source of great hope, but it compels us to live in a certain way today: brightly.
Below is the audio download of the message. Please note that there is no YouTube version this week. You can also access a link to the “growing deeper” background content as a part of The Pulse Podcast with Matthew Ruttan. This background content is a bit more expansive than usual; I include all the main content from the sermon itself, but also include some information about theories of a secret rapture.
