Mary’s Yes: What she teaches us about faith when the future is uncertain [Sermon]

Mary is usually held up as a model of humility, virtue and faithfulness. And rightly so. What better time than Advent and Christmas to look more closely at the mother of Jesus.

She was a young, devout Jewish girl who gave birth to the Son of God. She was probably 14 or 15 when she had the child she would call “Yeshua.” It would turn her world upside down. The Kingdom of God is like that.

This sermon explores Luke 1:26-56 which includes Gabriel’s visit, Mary’s response, her visit to Elizabeth, and also her famous song of praise (often called the ‘Magnificat.’)

Pastor Ruttan asks (and answers) what Mary can teach us about faith today when the future is uncertain. Her example is perpetually relevant.
