The Visit of the Wise Men, Herod’s Treachery, Exceeding Joy (Growing Deeper with Matthew 2)

We can take the visit of the wise men for granted. There they stand in countless nativity scenes and Christmas pageants. (Even though they didn’t visit until the shepherds had gone and Mary and Joseph had found better accommodations.)

Who were they? How many were there? Where did they come from? What is the significance of their gifts?

And what can we learn from them today?

The Pulse Podcast is about living abundantly wholeheartedly. It includes different kinds of content: Interviews, featured topics, or biblical studies. This episode is the later—and in-depth look at Matthew 2.

I take us through the text, provide some background, context and history, and provide some suggest some points of application for today.

Enjoy!

The sermon that accompanies this same section of text is called “Your Christ Compass” and can be accessed here.
