People are getting fed up — fed up with worship not being about glorifying God; with faith being me-focused instead of Christ-focused; and with Easter not being about the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ. Oh, and the world is an increasingly painful and unstable place. What’s to be done? The people of God need to re-ground themselves in the victory of the risen Christ. No more messing around.
This Easter morning sermon takes us through Luke 24:1-49. It is an invitation to consider the bigger picture of what God is doing, and how we can live victoriously as his people. Johnny Hunt has said, “In the end we win because the fight’s been fixed.” Do we want to live in confident faith or gutless fear? In victory or like victims of perpetual failure? In the grace and truth of Jesus or an avalanche of lies? By glorifying God or by giving up on who and what matters most?
The time is now. There is more to the resurrection than you think. The battle may rage, but the fight’s been fixed.
