What God wants: people who worship him in spirit and truth (Growing Deeper with John 4:1-26)

God cares about how we worship. And no, I’m not talking about worship “style.” This isn’t about hymns or praise songs, long or short, or even about where you worship.

It’s about worshiping God “in spirit and truth.” In fact, God “seeks” people to worship him in that way. This isn’t arbitrary. Since God is loving and almighty and perfect as our good Shepherd, worshiping him rightly is actually good for us.

The Pulse Podcast is about living abundantly wholeheartedly. It includes different kinds of content: Interviews, featured topics, or biblical studies. This episode is the later—an in-depth look at John 4:1-26. It’s the first part of the conversation between Jesus and the Samaritan woman at the well, and their discussion about both “living water” and true worship.

I take us through the text, line by line, provide background information and some explanations, hopefully illuminating some key insights for this important (but sometimes confusing) conversation.

Enjoy!

The sermon connected to this same section of text is called “The kind of worshiper God wants” and can be accessed here.
