Should we say ‘If it’s your will’ when praying for someone to recover from illness?

The Pulse Podcast is about living abundantly wholeheartedly.

This episode is on the topic of prayer. At the congregation where I serve, Westminster Church in Barrie, Canada, we have a monthly Q and A Forum. People can submit questions, either with their name or anonymously, and on the last Sunday of the month I do my best to answer.

Here’s the question in full:

“When we pray for someone to be helped or get well, should we be saying “if it’s your will”? Isn’t it always his will that we are healthy and well? Isn’t our job when we pray to just lift that person up to God calling on him for help?”
